Calibration Included with purchase of all new electronic data loggers:

All loggers are calibrated, as part of the Quality Control (QC) process, by comparison against a calibrated immersion PRT reference or using a reference resistor to verify accuracy. All free calibrations are done at ambient temperature, with one reading taken manually. The reading from the logger and the reference are compared, and if they are within published specifications, the logger passes, and moves on through the QC process. If the logger does not meet published specifications, it is rejected. No data from the free calibration is saved, and thus cannot be provided upon request at a later date. A NIST certificate is provided, which certifies that it has undergone the above process and passed. If a report with the data is required, this must be requested at the time you place your order, and the point(s) specified.

Marathon’s Optional Calibration Process:

All loggers are calibrated by comparison against a calibrated reference thermometer with an immersion PRT probe.
The logger or probe is placed in an environmental chamber, which is set to ramp to each of the temperature points specified and hold that temperature for 2 hours or more. The thermometer and the loggers have their clocks synchronized prior to running this procedure and set to log the data from the calibration session. At the end of the session, the data from all loggers and the reference thermometer is downloaded and compared. These readings are then listed in the “As Found” section of the calibration report. If the logger meets specifications, then the unit has passed the calibration and no further action is required. In this case, the  “As Left” readings will be identical to the “As Found” readings.
If the logger measurements are outside of specifications, then an adjustment is made to account for the difference, and the procedure outlined above is repeated to verify that the unit meets specifications. The measurements from this verification procedure will appear in the “As Left” section of the calibration report. All measurement standards and instruments utilized during the calibration are traceable to the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
All environmental chambers have an accuracy rating of +/-2ºC. If greater accuracy is required, please make a note of this and inform the sales representative.
